during one of our practice,facing a strong current that day..
I was the "emergency drummer", I'm actually practice as a paddler, because one of the drummer draw out in the last minute..our captain had asked me to replace her...huhu..by the way I cannot swim!!!..I pray hard so that nothing bad happen..Thank God...Amen..It was kinda hard actually, I cannot just simply beat the drum to my own tune, I have to look at my team mates..and make sure everyone is synchronize and to make sure my drum beat is realistic enough for them to follow....
this was supposed to be our final practice in Labuan before the event because of the strong current we weren't being able to do so..just hope for the best during the event..finger cross :)
On the 16th June 2011, we went off to KK, by ferry and some of them by flight..we all stayin at Grand Borneo Hotel in 1B..the room quite cozy I may say..my roommate was boon fong..and on the night itself finally I get the chance meet up with the girls!! :)
the next day..it's our first time practiced with HK and Singapore colleagues at Sutera Harbour Marina..Equity Trust(now known as TMF Group) competing for mix category are sending 2 teams that is Team A under Michael as captain (I'll be the drummer in this team) and Team B head by Baby Ngu, bear in mind this the first time we competing for Sabah Dragon Boat Race and most of us are new to this. During these practice then we know contestant are allowed to used their own paddle, where the organizer never even inform us and we thought we must use only the paddle provide by the organizer which is TOO HEAVY!!!. Looking at my teammates during that practice everybody was frustrated if that were the the paddle we'll be using for the competition and after the practice some of them had even thought we may not even have the chance for final... :( On that night luckily Baby's family coming down to KK and they bringing down the paddle we used for our practices before..crisis resolve :)
The moment of truth..I was as pale as ghost goin on the boat, I was trembling and shaky at the same time,fortunate enough my stomach didn't make up any tune by now....huhuhu......at the starting line 1 of the competing team was TOO late to be on the starting line, making eveybody have to wait for them, even the organizer was too messy we can't even hear what they saying, there are too far, they should had been in the middle so that it would be fair for everyone to hear the guy who fired the gun, moreover the organizer keep on shouting our boat in not straight, what so ever!!!..without even telling everyone to be ready then he just fired the gun...I'm trying my best to concentrate on hearing the gun sound, luckily I heard it very well...as commented by our fellow colleagues on the shore..My team that is Team A take off perfectly, synchronize however there's just not enough power,meanwhile Team B was bit late on the starter as they cannot hear the fired gun, but they were quite strong than us..the final result Team B goes to final for tomorrow..It may not be perfect but we had done our best..to celebrate our effort it's time for a dinner treat..by the way I was bit dizzy and tired after the race...also not to forget thanks to my sister and brother who came to support me.. :)
Looking at other teams from physical only you can see they are used to this and fitter than us..huhuhu...but then we had done our best...

It's done....although we did not win..only Team B goes to final..it was the power of team spirit that made us to give our best shot..although we're just a rookie..on the same day also all of us went back to Labuan in the evening....
p/s: I know I was late..writing this...huhu...only now got the idea & time... :)
